Fort Scott Community College
Based in Fort Scott, Kansas, the Fort Scott Community College is a public two-year higher learning institution with satellite locations across Crawford County. It was established in 1919 and is the oldest community college in the state of Kansas. Currently, the college averages about 2000 in enrollment. Satellite locations are situated in Pittsburg, Frontenac, Paola, and Fort Scott High School.

The FSCC Advisors are on hand to assist students from the enrollment process, and reminding students of the documents and requirements necessary for admission up to graduation. The Advising Office also offers Transfer Advising for students who are planning to transfer their credits to another college or institution. In addition, the Office has laptop computers (limited supply) available for student checkout up to three days at a time, to be used for school-related work.
Fort Scott Community College provides housing facilities for students who wish to live on campus. The student dormitories are specially designed "living-learning" spaces that complement the educational focus of the college. Residence halls are air conditioned and equipped with basic amenities, as well as lounge areas for studying and socializing.
The Food Service at Fort Scott Community College is provided by Great Western Dining Service, and boasts of professionally managed dining programs and services. The Cafeteria serves breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, entrees, and soups and salads, as well as other special menu offerings. Premium entrees such as prime rib, breaded shrimp, salmon steak, carved meat, eight ounce steak, or triple bacon cheeseburgers are served once a month. Themed festive meals and pace changers are also offered. Students can pre-arrange sick tray service, meals for picnics or special functions, and other services.
Various forms of financial aid and assistance are offered to students of Fort Scott Community College to help in paying for tuition and other educational costs. Students are advised to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, which is the first step in finding out one's eligibility for financial aid. Financial aid programs available at Fort Scott Community College include the Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized Stafford Loan, Pell Grant, Federal Work-Study program, and others. Students are encouraged to connect with the different student organizations and groups on campus, depending on their background, interest, and hobby. Student groups include the FSCC Choir, Greyhound Jazz Band, Christians on Campus, Debate and Forensics, Drama, Collegiate Farm Bureau, Phi Theta Kappa, Orchestra, Student Nursing Organization, President's Ambassadors, and many others.
